CRS Consignment Sales in 5 easy steps

  • Step 1: Set up an account and plan your event
    • Fill out the account information and sales agreement form that comes with your packet and mail, fax, or email it to Serrv.
    • Decide where and when to hold the sale. Consider combining it with another parish event for maximum impact.
    • Recruit volunteers of all ages from your parish or school. Offer service hours for student volunteers.
  • Step 2: Place your order
    • Place your order 4 to 5 weeks before your sale. Estimate the number of people that will attend. If 200 adults come, perhaps 100 will make an average purchase of $15, so you’ll want to order $1,500 worth of items. To qualify for free shipping and the 20% discount, order at least $300 worth of products at catalog price (and more than 50% handcrafts). Payment is not required with your order if you have a sponsoring organization.
    • Don’t forget to request additional CRS Ethical Trade promotional materials with your order.
  • Step 3: Get your whole parish or school involved
    • Use the enclosed promotional kit and download additional CRS Ethical Trade resources and prayers.
    • Insert the CRS Ethical Trade Bulletin in your church’s weekly bulletin or newsletter.
    • Offer the general intercessions at Mass, or request a blessing of volunteers after Mass. Request a CRS priest or deacon to speak to your group by emailing globalfellows@crs.org.
    • Share faith formation resources for youth, teens and adults with your catechists.
  • Step 4: Set up your sale
    • You will receive your order 1 to 2 weeks before your sale.
    • Keep the packing materials. You can reuse them, wrap purchases or returns. Please do not write on price tags or individual item boxes.
    • Check off items on your enclosed invoice to ensure the order is complete. Keep the invoice to check off items as they sell.
    • Are there missing, extra or damaged items? Send the adjustment form to Customer Care.
    • Set up your sale with the enclosed materials. Begin with the blessing for volunteers and place fair trade table signs and fliers at your displays.
    • Checks should be made out to you or your organization. For information on credit card sales, please visit serrv.org/HostASale.
    • Include a prayer card or CRS gift message card with each purchase.
  • Step 5: Submit payment and return unsold items
    • Fill out the Consignment Returns Worksheet in your Returns Packet.
    • Calculate your payment and send one check to Serrv in the envelope provided.
    • Send your returns separately within 10 days of your sale. Fill out the consignment returns worksheet in your returns packet and follow the other instructions for returns, using the Fedex label included with your order for free return shipping.
    • Give thanks! Put a message in your church bulletin thanking parishioners for participating.
